We tested the XPENG G9: an electric SUV that redefines luxury and technology.

The XPENG G9 is the Chinese manufacturer’s most ambitious effort to conquer the European market. This large electric SUV stands out for its elegant design, cutting-edge technology, and range, making it a strong competitor to well-established brands like Audi, Mercedes, and Tesla.

Measuring 4.89 meters long, 1.93 meters wide, and 1.68 meters high, the G9 makes a bold first impression. Its minimalist design, clean lines, and full-width LED light signature give it a modern, sophisticated look. The absence of a front grille and aerodynamic details emphasize its electric and efficient character.

Inside, the G9 offers a futuristic and welcoming environment. The dashboard features three digital screens: a 10.25-inch instrument cluster and two 14.96-inch displays for infotainment and the front passenger. The Xmart OS operating system supports OTA updates and includes an advanced voice assistant. Premium materials like leather and metallic finishes, along with features such as a panoramic roof and ventilated, heated seats, elevate the experience to a true luxury level.

Standard Range: Rear motor with 313 hp and 75.8 kWh LFP battery, offering 460 km of range (WLTP)
Long Range: Same 313 hp motor with a 93.1 kWh NCM battery, delivering up to 570 km of range
Performance: Dual motors producing 551 hp and a 93.1 kWh NCM battery, offering all-wheel drive and 520 km of range

All versions reach a top speed of 200 km/h, with 0 to 100 km/h acceleration ranging from 6.4 seconds (Standard) to an impressive 3.9 seconds (Performance).

Fast Charging and Energy Efficiency

Thanks to its 800 V electrical architecture, the G9 supports DC fast charging up to 300 kW. This allows a 10% to 90% charge in just 19 minutes—ideal for long trips. Its energy consumption ranges between 19.4 and 21.3 kWh/100 km, which is competitive in its class.

We tested this model at Zunder’s Ultrafast Charging Stations and were thoroughly impressed. In just 12 minutes, we charged from 28% to 68%, maintaining charging power above 200 kW throughout the session.

Driver Assistance and Connectivity Technology

The G9 features XPILOT, a system that combines cameras, radar, and sensors to deliver advanced driving, parking, and safety assistance features. The XPENG mobile app also allows users to control various functions remotely, including climate control, battery status, and smart parking features.
